what the hell?

What the hell?

This was NOT at all what I had planned.

And that’s a really big deal because well, I’m a planner.  I plan everything…from the next 10 minutes to the next 10 years.  I’ve got it all mapped out for myself.  Or, at least I did.

My life suddenly took an unplanned course.  All the adjustments and new responsibilities were a bit overwhelming – though I would never admit that out loud (except on the world-wide-freakin’-web) because I am also a controller…not so much of everyone else, but definitely of me.  My term of choice is actually ‘disciplined.’  I am disciplined.

So, what the hell happened?

Because quite unexpectedly, I find myself in the midst of Plan B.  Only what’s worse is I don’t know what Plan B even looks like because I’m so Type A – I thought I had Plan A airtight.  Damn it.  [Click to Tweet]

So, here I am…once a standard-inside-the-box-exceeds-expectations-cookie-cutter kind of girl finding myself in an undefined-coloring-outside-the-lines-where-the-hell-did-I-leave-my-keys messy world…

…and, I think I like it.

Thank you, Jen! I just love working with you. You’ve been an encouragement to me from the beginning to “just start writing.” (Novel idea, lol!) You have been instrumental in helping me gain momentum with my Type A project. And, your natural talent with design and branding is making me look so pretty and brilliant, lol! You rock!

Struggling with this one, often asking myself how I got here. A friend of mine wrote a book titled, If There Was A Road I’d Take It. That’s how I feel lately, looking for a road back, a road forward, a road out. Heck, even a path would work… Thanks again for your candid creativity, and so much more.

Hi, Kurt. I think anyone who finds themselves in uncharted territory can relate to the “What the hell?” feeling. Sometimes I don’t even need all the answers, but I find comfort in just knowing someone else can relate. One piece of advice that has brought me peace many times this year is from Regina Brett’s book, God Never Blinks. It is this: “When in doubt, just take the next right step.” For me that has relieved the pressure to have it all figured out. Sometimes – when you are looking for a road out, or even a teeny-tiny path – you only need enough courage to just take “next right step.”
